Valley of The Whales
Valley of The Whales Museum in Fayoum Governorate is the best in the world in terms of linking life to climate change through its exhibits, as it is the only one that displays marine life and the changes it has undergone over time through 18 sites in an open-air museum about 2 kilometers square, which showcases open-air excavations.Nature reserves play a very important role in mitigating carbon emissions that increase global warming. Consequently, the temperature rises, as nature reserves play a role in reducing the percentage of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by increasing carbon absorption and storage in soil or salt marshes.
Wadi Al-Hitan or Valley of The Whales represents a very important point in raising environmental awareness about climate change because it gives us a lesson in history of what was happening 40 million years ago due to climate change and the rise in the planet's temperature at this time, as there were no North and South Poles, and there were very large amounts of water that occupied most of the world.
He pointed out that Valley of The Whales Museum, which was built by Egypt in 2016, is a landmark on a global level, as it is the only museum in the world that has been able to link climate change to fossils and build a museum for it, and be a model for site museums worldwide. It is also the best example in the world of explaining climate change through fossils.
The museum houses more fossils than any other museum, with over 195 original fossils representing the marine life that existed in Fayoum Governorate 40 million years ago. And revealed that ancient climate change had worked in the interest of the planet Earth, as we were able to obtain a larger area of land, but we do not want it to be reversed now, because if the temperature rises, it will cause the melting of the South Poles, and thus increase the amount of water and destroy life on land, leading to food crises, energy problems, and others, especially energy loss.
